This is a picture I took with my digital camera at Greenwood Cemetery in Columbia, Tennessee. The story is that many of these tombstones were broken by Federal bullets that were fired from across the river at Confederate soldiers hiding in the cemetery. Many of the tombstones on the backside of this cemetery are shattered in ways that resemble bullet marks. Very interesting cemetery. It contains the remains of Revolutionary soldiers and several founders of the area, including William H Polk, politician and brother of President James K Polk.
